Supervision

For those of us who have experienced supervision before we have all had good supervisors and bad ones, and the chances are we remember vividly the characteristics of both. The good ones probably stick out as people who have made a positive impact on our work lives and who made us more successful in our careers. The bad ones probably showed us the type of supervisors that we don’t want to be and the mistakes we don’t want to make.

Outstanding supervisors can create a profound ripple effect in organizations. Their behaviour, integrity, and treatment influences others for the better. Not only do supervisors directly impact their team members, but they indirectly affect others. The people they supervise and manage frequently move on to lead others, often in a way that emulates how they were supervised.

At Horizon C&C we use a model of supervision that is both collaborative and consultative, recognising the autonomy of the supervisee and providing them with the opportunity to expand their understanding of their role and the impact they have on the people they work with.

We use a person centred, solution focused approach to supervision, however we also recognise and can work within the supervision approach of the employing organisation as required, working either with individuals or in a group scenario if needed.
